On the morning of April 22, a delegation from Osh State University (OSU), Kyrgyzstan, led by Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, Director of the Confucius Institute Toktosun Aitikeev, and Sinologist Maratbek Abdykulov, visited NJIT. Sun Aiwu, Chairman of University Council and Pu Lijie, Deputy Chairman of University Council e warmly welcomed the delegation.
Sun introduced NJIT’s development and strong engineering foundation, particularly in fields like mechanical, electric power, and nuclear engineering, emphasizing the NJIT’s goal of building a top-tier, application-oriented university. He expressed hopes for regular exchanges with OSU, exploring multidimensional collaborations across academic fields to strengthen ties between China and Kyrgyzstan.
Rector Kudaiberdi expressed gratitude for the reception, noting that Sino-Kyrgyz relations have created numerous opportunities for cooperation in higher education and academic exchange. He highlighted OSU’s support of the partnership, especially through its Confucius Institute, which has trained over 14,000 Chinese language learners since 2013. Kudaiberdi welcomed future collaboration, especially in expanding engineering exchanges to complement existing humanities programs.
On the meeting, Pu and Kudaiberdi signed a memorandum of understanding to formalize the partnership. Prior to the meeting, the delegation also visited the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship as well as campus-based Tianyin Dreamworks Incubation Studio.
