On November 23, a delegation from the University of Strathclyde led by Mr. Stuart Shorthouse, Head of International Development and Recruitment of Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Li Jun from the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, visited NJIT. Pu Lijie, Deputy Chairman of University Council and representatives from key schools and offices warmly welcomed the delegation.
Pu expressed warm welcome to the delegation and emphasized the shared educational concepts and cooperation potential between the universities, advocating for expanded exchanges to enhance global perspectives for faculty and students. Shorthouse affirmed Strathclyde’s commitment to deepening strategic partnership, reflecting on the resilience of both universities in maintaining collaboration in face of the pandemic.
On the meeting, both sides share ideas on promoting the “2+2” “3+1+1” “4+1” “1+1+1” joint/double degree programs, and explored opportunities for co-supervised doctoral training, summer schools, and faculty exchanges.
Since establishing university level cooperation in 2019, NJIT and the University of Strathclyde have built solid foundations in fields like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architecture, and civil engineering. Following the meeting, Shorthouse held an information session for NJIT students who are interested in studying at Strathclyde, covering details on the university’s strengths, degree programs, and application processes, sparking further interest in UK study opportunities.
